General Purpose Rating
(6 months Course)

The six months General Purpose Rating (GP Rating) approved by the Directorate General of Shipping (Government of India).On successful completion of this Pre – Sea training, the candidates will be able to join as a rating in Indian & Foreign shipping companies as a Deck Crew or Engine Crew.

The G.P.Rating candidate will be able to work in all seamanship activities on-board at deck side and other work at Engine side. With further Sea-service, they will be promoted as DECK SERANG, BOSUN, Able-Bodied Seamen / Engine/Fitter,etc.They can also be promoted to officer Level with certain service and qualification requirements. After completing this Pre-Sea Training, exams will be conducted by BOARD OF EXAMINATION FOR SEAFARERS TRUST (BEST) & successful candidates are eligible to obtain Continuous Discharge Certificate (INDIAN CDC) From shipping master, govt of India. There are wide job opportunities for our Indian Seamen all over the world.

ELIGIBILITY:
  1. Xth Std. Pass from Govt. recognised board with subjects English, Mathematics & Science with 40% aggregate. English 40% in Xth / XIIth (or)
  2. XIIth Std. (any stream) Govt. recognised board with 40% aggregate. English 40% in Xth / XIIth but with subjects English, Mathematics & Science at Xth Std. (or)
  3. Pass in 2 year ITI course approved by DVET with minimum 40 % aggregate marks in final year of ITI & 40 % aggregate in English 40% in Xth / XIIth
AGE LIMIT : Min. 17years 6 months – 25 yrs (maximum) at the time of commencement of course, (or)
VISION : No Color Blindness, 6/6 Vision in each eye. No Eye Glasses permitted,

RELAXATION OF AGE LIMIT & SCHOLARSHIP BENEFIT :

Eligibility criteria for admission in Pre-sea Maritime courses Age relaxations as per Latest DGs Training circular 12 of 2020.

The maximum age limit of Male candidates for GP Rating and CCMC courses as follows:

- for SSC & ITI -25 years and Candidate Holding Degree or Diploma – 27 years

The maximum age relaxation for women candidates of each category shall be relaxed by additional 2 years.

Benifit-"scholarship":-for women Ratings scholarship already been distributed by MTT (Maritime Training Trust) for Rs.100,000/- of each women candidate who are undergone by GP Rating and CCMC course.
